Talking about Sexuality with your Transgender & Non-Binary Child - Most parents know how challenging it is to discuss sexuality with one’s cisgender child, but it is a distinctly different experience when they are transgender or gender non-binary identified. Join Dr. Elise Turen who will discuss the nuances and complexities of sexuality in a child who is on a gender journey, and what that means for them. She will explore the issues of how to be a loving and communicative and supportive parent and will help arm you with appropriate language and sensitivities.
Presenter: Dr Elise Turen is a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist, who has been a practitioner in the field of Human Sexuality for 35 years. She received her PhD in Human Sexuality in 2008 and also holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. For the past 25 years she has been an Associate Director at the Los Angeles Gender Center, where it has been her heartfelt mission to create a safe space for clients to explore the diversity of their gender Self, along with the developing insight of the inherent rights to their anatomy, sexual health and expression. Elise was called to the exploration of gender & sexuality early in her life. That initial exploration became her life's work as a counselor and educator in these fields
