PFLAG Regional Director Robert Petersen will start our meeting with an important education segment focused on PrEP

In this sex-positive and gender-affirming presentation, participants will learn about the latest tool available to prevent HIV, a pill that if used as prescribed, is ~99% effective in preventing HIV infection. The method is called pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP for short. Participants will learn what studies the FDA used to approve PrEP for HIV prevention, who might be considered a candidate for PrEP, how to talk to your doctor about PrEP, the “controversies” surrounding PrEP and the different programs available to access PrEP if your insurance doesn't cover it.
